Fitted sheets
In addition to a mattress protector, every mattress needs a sheet before it can be used. Most bottom sheets nowadays are ‘fitted sheets’ but you can of course still buy a ‘flat’ sheet at De Slaapadviseur. Traditional sets with matching pillowslips are also still available from various manufacturers.
Material
Most sheets are made of cotton. We use the term ‘percale’ if the cotton is woven with at least 80 threads per cm².
Satin is easily confused with silk and is a material consisting of nothing more than a different way of ‘interweaving’ the cotton. The thread is spun and looped, this gives the fabric a luxury shine. Satin can only be made with the highest grade of cotton (Egyptian cotton).
Jersey is always a mixture of cotton with a stretch fibre and produces a sheet that is easy to pull over different sizes of mattress.
Linen is a high-grade natural product and yields exclusive and very high-quality sheets, we have two distinct types, linen mix (50% cotton) and 100% linen.
