What is a divan?
A divan, known in the US as a ‘box spring’ consists of a frame, (usually wooden) to which a tray of upright springs is attached. The entire unit is finished on top with a comfort layer and upholstered with fabric or leather, synthetic or otherwise. Placing the divan on legs and adding an upholstered headboard gives us what is known as a ‘divan bed’.
A pocket spring mattress goes with a divan. Each pocket spring in the mattress will be given optimum support on the divan in order to compress and recover correctly. The fact that each spring can move separately in its pocket means that our body contour will be followed faithfully and supported.
