Latex is obtained from the milky sap of the rubber tree. The more milk the latex foam contains the higher quality and the more comfortable it is. We describe it as NATURAL LATEX if at least 85% of this milk is used. Natural latex is the heaviest of its kind (very high density) but it boasts very high point elasticity at the same time so as to transmit the movements of the slatted base faithfully. Mattresses in natural latex also have a smaller environmental footprint than synthetic variants made from petroleum derivatives.
Synthetic latex variants have neither the same resilience nor the same breathability as natural latex.
The ideal base for a latex mattress?
Latex mattresses are combined with slatted bases fitted with flexible slats or pads like the Lattoflex Winx base. The slatted base provides the requisite support for the body while the mattress mainly determines the comfort of the system.
The high density and point elasticity of latex mean that a latex mattress will transmit any movement of the slats or pads faithfully to the sleeper.
